Tapered never asks you to switch everything at once. It earns each step.
Step one — set the stand
Your phone, on a stand, next to the mirror. Tapered films your sessions automatically while you cut. That's the entire setup: no cash register, no card machine, no iPad, no new hardware of any kind. If your phone works, Tapered works.
- Faceless by default. The daily auto-content is craft: the fade, the lineup, the detail work. A client's face appears only when they say yes, with one tap.
- Audio is never recorded. What's said in the chair stays in the chair.
- Kids never get posted. Full stop.
Step two — your feed runs itself
The AI picks your best moments, edits them to what's trending, writes captions in your voice, and posts once or twice a day at peak times — plus stories. Every week you get a plain-English recap: what got posted, how many new followers, how many people tapped through. Real numbers you can screenshot.
Step three — bookings follow
When you're ready, your link-in-bio becomes a booking page under your name and brand. We migrate your whole client book from Squire, Booksy, or theCut for you, same day, free. Then the front desk goes to work: every missed call gets a text back in seconds and gets booked. DMs answered around the clock. Cancellations fill themselves from your waitlist. Reminders go out so people actually show up.
Step four — payments, same phone
Tap to pay right on the phone — no terminal to buy, ever. One flat 2.6% card rate, published for everyone, and nothing else: no monthly fee, no fees on your clients, no commission on your bookings. Next-day payouts. Deposits for repeat no-shows. Cash appointments logged free, always.
For shops and booth renters
Every barber gets their own book, their own payouts, their own clients. Rent and splits collect themselves. And your profile belongs to you, not the shop — change chairs and everything moves with you.
How invites work
- Founding shops. A handful per city: locked rate forever, first merch drop, name in the credits.
- Earned invites. Active shops get two invites a month. Invites are earned by using Tapered, not bought — so an invite means something.
- City unlocks. Your city opens when enough barbers are on the list. Refer barbers you rate and everybody moves up.
Straight answers
What's the catch?
We earn a flat rate on card payments processed through Tapered. That's the entire business. No subscription, no client fees, no commission, no paid "AI add-on." If you don't get paid, we don't get paid — so everything we build is aimed at filling your chairs.
Do I have to leave my current booking app?
No. Day one is just the stand. Booking and payments come when you want them — and we do the migration for you, free.
I mostly take cash. Still for me?
Yes. Cash appointments are logged free forever. The content engine and front desk don't care how you get paid.
What do I need to buy?
Nothing. The stand is a phone mount we send founding shops, and any $15 mount works. There is no register, no reader, no tablet, no subscription. Your phone is the whole system.
When does my city open?
When enough barbers are on the list. The fastest way to open it is sending your link to barbers you rate.
